Applying Augmented Reality Technology in STEM Education: A Bibliometrics Analysis in Scopus Database

Augmented reality offers diverse potential applications for STEM education, enabling students to engage directly with virtual elements in real-time and providing them with immersive, natural experiences. This study conducted a bibliometric analysis of articles on this topic on the Scopus database to determine some quantitative information, such as general information about publications, countries, institutions, authors with the most contributions, and key trends in applying augmented reality technology in STEM education. An analysis of 201 studies published from 2005 to 2023 using Biblioshiny software and VOSviewer reveals that the United States leads in the number of studies conducted on this issue. Kryvyi Rih National University, Ukraine, has the most studies. The authors who contributed the most studies with the most citations on this issue are Lindner, C. and Rienow, A. from Ruhr University Bochum, Germany. Two primary research trends emerge, focusing on how Augmented Reality technology is utilized, particularly in STEM fields like Chemistry, which combines learning forms with other learning support tools and media such as mobile applications. Secondly, integrating augmented reality and virtual reality technologies into STEM programs at the university level, design of games, and virtual tools. This study offers important data for researchers looking to explore future applications of augmented reality technology within STEM education.

The sense of belonging is a human need that educational systems must foster to achieve student success. In the school setting, this feeling strengthens the bond between members of the institution and motivates families to become more involved with the school, improving the overall school climate. Teachers play a crucial role in promoting this sense of belonging by influencing the connection between families and the educational community. This study aims to understand how teachers from different contexts, one Colombian and the other Spanish, promote families' sense of belonging to the school. To this end, an evaluative, comparative, quantitative, and non-experimental study was conducted using a validated questionnaire applied to a significant sample in both contexts. The results show that, for teachers in both contexts, it is very important for families to feel satisfied with the education their children receive, which is why they strive to build trust in the teaching staff. The sense of belonging is more strongly promoted by teachers in charter schools and those with more years of experience in schools in the Spanish context. In the Colombian context, women are the ones who most actively promote it, thereby perpetuating gender roles. There is a need to provide specific training for teachers to help them develop this capacity in families, as well as to conduct further research to explore the differences that may influence the promotion of a sense of belonging.
Bibliometric Review of Factors Influencing University Dropout (2018-2022): An Analysis of Scientific Literature

University dropout is a multidimensional and multicausal problem that affects every university around the world. The aim of this article is to conduct a bibliometric review of the scientific literature on the main factors that influence university dropouts in scientific publications between 2018 and 2022. The methodology is based on systematic searches using the Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases. We analysed 417 and 498 articles, respectively, applying inclusion/exclusion criteria. The main factors of university dropout were identified: problems in the academic and social world of students, student stress, health reasons, the role of teachers, and changes in the education system. Among the countries with the highest scientific output, Spain stands out, along with the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and China. This would provide a more complete view of the historical evolution and multifactorial causes of this educational phenomenon.

This study examines how work well-being is addressed in Finnish leadership education programs. The data consist of 91 publicly available course descriptions from Finnish leadership education programs in 2023, including those for master’s degrees from universities of applied sciences, traditional university-level leadership programs, and specialist vocational qualifications in leadership and business management. The study uses content analysis to examine the role of work well-being in leadership training. The results indicate that work well-being is often linked to organizational performance and treated as a tool for achieving economic goals, with less emphasis on the inherent value of employee well-being. This instrumental approach is prevalent across the different types of leadership training programs, including those found in the universities of applied sciences, traditional universities, and programs for specialist vocational qualifications in leadership and business management. The study also finds that leadership training programs often emphasize self-leadership and personal development, which can perpetuate a culture of individual responsibility for well-being and may lead to superficial leadership practices. The study concludes that Finnish leadership educators should prioritize holistic approaches to work well-being in leadership training, emphasizing its intrinsic value alongside its role in organizational performance, while researchers could explore methods to integrate and evaluate these balanced perspectives in diverse educational contexts.

Work-based learning (WBL) is an important tool for enhancing students' employability skills in vocational education and training. Many studies have underlined the importance of a variable of WBL, self-efficacy, and vocational identity in developing vocational students' employability skills. Nonetheless, the research is limited and examined separately. Therefore, this study investigates how WBL, self-efficacy, and vocational identity influence employability skills and how self-efficacy moderates between WBL and employability skills. Four hundred and three state university students in Yogyakarta were involved in the data collection. This study used structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis to test its hypothesis. The results of the study revealed that the implementation of WBL did not have a direct effect on employability skills; however, self-efficacy was able to moderate the relationship between WBL and employability skills. However, WBL directly influences vocational identity, which in turn directly influences employability skills, while self-efficacy also directly influences employability skills. This research has important implications for improving learning that can improve students' self-efficacy skills in an effort to build students' employability skills in vocational education and training.

The field of engineering education is constantly evolving to meet the challenges of technological and societal advancements. Continuous research should be conducted to identify the potential match between the skills that employers seek and the ones engineering graduates gain at college. The purpose of this study is to identify areas of agreement and disagreement between the faculty and employers regarding the skills and knowledge that engineering students acquire during their undergraduate education. The study uses an explanatory sequential design method by employing a questionnaire that was developed based on the Engineering Competency Model (ECM) by the Employment and Training Administration of the USA Department of Labor and responded to by 125 volunteer engineering faculty. Additionally, interviews were conducted with 2 industry professionals to gain deeper qualitative insights. The study found that while faculty mainly stated that students acquire personal effectiveness, academic, and workplace competencies in college, employers disagreed with these perceptions, particularly regarding interpersonal skills, integrity, professionalism, writing, and communication. Additionally, the study found a significant mismatch between faculty and employer assessments of industry-wide competencies, with employers expressing concerns about graduates' preparedness in areas like design, business, and sustainability. These findings suggest significant updates and cooperation with industry experts in engineering curricula and their implementation.

: In this study, we present a didactic experience carried out in a public university with 60 students enrolled in the 2nd year of the Primary Education Teaching Degree. This experience consisted of implementing a teaching and learning sequence in which proportionality problems (mathematics content) and pure substances and mixtures (experimental science content) were addressed together in an ecodidactic garden context. This work presents the results obtained through the analysis of the students' responses. Our findings suggest that pre-service teachers have difficulties similar to those of primary and secondary students in the use of measuring instruments and conversion units, as well as in the calculation of proportions in mathematics and conceptual errors at a microscopic and macroscopic level in experimental sciences. This study highlights the need to design and implement strategies to support students in their formative process in relation to the contents of proportion and matter. As an added value in our work, we emphasize the interdisciplinary connection between mathematics and experimental sciences, offering a more real-life perspective of science.

This research aims to systematically review the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in English language teaching and learning. It specifically seeks to analyze the current literature to identify how AI could be utilized in English language classrooms, the specific tools and pedagogical approaches employed, and the challenges faced by educators. Using the PRISMA-guided Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology, articles were selected from Scopus, Science Direct, and ERIC, and then analyzed thematically with NVivo software. Findings reveal that AI enhances English teaching through tools like grammar checkers, chatbots, and language learning apps, with writing assistance being the most common application (54.55% of studies). Despite its benefits, challenges such as academic dishonesty, over-reliance on AI (27.27% of studies), linguistic issues, and technical problems remain significant. The study emphasizes the need for ethical considerations and teacher training to maximize AI’s potential. It also highlights societal concerns, including the digital divide, underscoring the importance of equitable access to AI-powered education for learners of all socioeconomic backgrounds.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has revolutionized higher education. The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence in education (AIED) tools has significantly transformed educational management, specifically in self-directed learning (SDL). This study examines the factors influencing Indonesian higher education students' intention to adopt AIED tools for self-directed learning using a combination of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) with additional theories. A total of 322 university students from diverse academic backgrounds participated in the structured survey. This study utilized machine learning it was Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to analyze nine factors, including attitude (AT), subjective norms (SN), perceived behavioral control (PBC), optimism (OP), user innovativeness (UI), perceived usefulness (PUF), facilitating conditions (FC), perception towards ai (PTA), and intention (IT) with a total of 41 items in the questionnaire. The model demonstrated high predictive accuracy, with SN emerging as the most significant factor to IT, followed by AT, PBC, PUF, FC, OP, and PTA. User innovativeness was the least influential factor due to the lowest accuracy. This study provides actionable insights for educators, policymakers, and technology developers by highlighting the critical roles of social influence, supportive infrastructure, and student beliefs in shaping AIED adoption for self-directed learning (SDL). This research not only fills an important gap in the literature but also offers a roadmap for designing inclusive, student-centered AI learning environments that empower learners and support the future of SDL in digital education.

The proliferating field of writing education increasingly intersects with technological innovations, particularly generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) resources. Despite extensive research on automated writing evaluation systems, no empirical investigation has been reported so far on GenAI’s potential in cultivating intermedial writing skills within first language contexts. The present study explored the impact of ChatGPT as a writing assistant on university literature students’ intermedial writing proficiency. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group, researchers examined 52 undergraduate students’ essay writings over a 12-week intervention. Participants in the treatment group harnessed the conversational agent for iterative essay refinement, while the reference group followed traditional writing processes. Utilizing a comprehensive four-dimensional assessment rubric, researchers analyzed essays in terms of relevance, integration, specificity, and balance of intermedial references. Quantitative analyses revealed significant improvements in the AI-assisted group, particularly in relevance and insight facets. The findings add to the research on technology-empowered writing learning.

This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric and content analysis of research on autism and mathematics learning from 2010 to 2024. A total of 131 peer-reviewed articles were retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) database using keywords such as autism, mathematics, learning, and intervention. Bibliometric analysis was conducted to quantitatively examine publication trends, leading authors, contributing countries, and co-authorship networks, offering a macroscopic overview of the field’s evolution. Visualisations generated using VOSviewer further illustrated keyword co-occurrence and thematic clustering. Complementing this, content analysis provided a qualitative synthesis of research themes and conceptual progressions across the literature. The findings revealed a clear thematic evolution. Early research (2010–2015) predominantly focused on behavioural interventions, structured instructional approaches, and basic numeracy development. Mid-phase studies (2016–2020) introduced inclusive pedagogies, social-emotional considerations, and differentiated instruction. Recent research (2021–2024) has shifted towards personalised, technology-enhanced instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and the integration of digital tools in mathematics education. Despite this growth, several gaps remain. Research remains limited in addressing cross-cultural diversity, long-term evaluations of digital interventions, and the adaptation of pedagogies in underrepresented regions. This study emphasises the need for future research to explore culturally responsive frameworks, the sustainability of technology uses, and equity in mathematics education for autistic learners.

This study aims to develop a competency framework for teaching natural science under the blended learning (BL) model for Natural Science education students at Thai Nguyen University of Education. Recognizing the increasing importance of BL in the context of modern education and the challenges teachers face during implementation, the modified Delphi method was employed to collect expert opinions, involving three rounds of surveys with 50 participants, including university lecturers and secondary school educational administrators. The research identifies seven core competency groups, including specialized knowledge, lesson design and evaluation competencies, classroom organization and management, student assessment and feedback, information technology competencies, experiment and simulation utilization in teaching, and basic knowledge of BL. The findings highlight the necessity of blending traditional teaching methods with modern technology to effectively implement the BL model, enhancing both the teaching process and students' learning outcomes. This framework is expected to serve as a crucial basis for teacher training universities to adjust their curricula and support educational administrators in fostering and enhancing the capacity of natural science teachers at the secondary level. This competency framework aims to support the professional development of Natural Science teachers and education students, ensuring their preparedness for the evolving demands of modern education. Furthermore, the study provides insights into the skills and knowledge that teachers need to acquire to adapt to the continuously evolving educational environment.
